Distribution Manager:  OPEN

  Mountain View Farm distributes over 1600 CSA shares per week from June through the end of October.  This position oversees the operations and staffing of the packing house and all of our CSA distributions.  It manages all floor logistics in the barn where our on farm CSA and produce handling happen.  It is the Team Leader for the group of people working in the Barn and is Ben's point person for everything Post-Harvest. 


  • Manages Share-room and Washroom Staff
    • Acts as a point person for Ben for all the staff that work in the barn
    • Responsible for morale, efficiency and all worker tasking in the washroom and share-room
    • Responsible for scheduling share-room shifts and filling in shifts when employees are away / sick / etc
  • Manages Floor Logistic in the barn
    • Produce in and out of coolers
    • Interface between the washroom and share-room
  • Manages CSA Distribution amounts
    • Works with Ben to set share amounts
    • Manages amounts through out the week
  • U-Pick Management
    • Opening and closing of u-pick crops
    • Setting amounts for different share sizes
  • Sign Management
    • Manages all signage including Produce / Product / Info / Promotions / U-Pick
  • Acts as a member of the team working in the barn
    • Jumps in to help wash when needed
    • Jumps in to help distribution when we're busy
    • Covers distribution shifts when people are away or sick
  • Ordering and Inventory of farm market products
    • Manages restocking
    • New product and pricing additions

Time of Year / Season / Hours:

  • Thursdays : 10:00 - 7:30
  • Fridays:  10:00 - 7:30
  • Saturdays:  8:00 - 4:00
  • Sundays:  8:00 - 4:00
  • Position Starts mid May and runs to the end of October
  • Potential for flexibility if applicant doesn't want to work all four shifts

Required skills:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds through out the day

Packing House Manager:  OPEN


  • Manage crew washing and packing produce
    • Packing consistency

  • Manage packing Boxes for NYC
    • Box ingredient oversight

  • General cleaning, organizing, and upkeep of packing area and dock
  • Cooler stocking / organizing
    • Managing layout and rotations
  • Communications with Shareroom manager
  • Communications with Harvest Manager for produce delivery scheduling
  • Allocating and labeling produce for different sites
  • Maintain packing supplies and order as needed
    • Wax Boxes for NYC deliveries
    • Small root bags for individual shares
    • Large plastic and polypropylene bags for on farm distribution

Time of year / season / hours:

  • Packing house position starts the first week of June with the beginning of the harvest season.  Employment can start as early as March to gain experience in other areas of the farm including greenhouse work, transplanting, weeding, etc...
  • Hours are 6am - 5pm (sometimes it takes us a little bit longer to do clean up)
  • Spring and fall affords more time in the field

Required skills:

  • Organization is a large part of this position
  • Ability to manage a large group of people efficiently is essential
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple deadlines during the day
  • Some basic Spanish goes a long way
  • In short:  Detail oriented, logistics capable, fast pace, can-do attitude!

Ground Crew:  FILLED


  For 2019 we have a few 'Ground Crew' positions open.  These positions consist mainly of harvest and weeding work.  Driving farm vehicles including 18' box truck is part of the position.  Being able to work as part of a group is essential .  Heavy Lifting and long hours bent over or on knees is a main part of this job!  A good position for someone who is relatively new to farming or someone who just wants to work out in the fields all day.  This is an extremely physical position working outside in all conditions!

Time of Year / Season / Hours:

  • Start date is somewhat flexible and can start as early as the first week in March and as late as mid May.
  • Hours are 6am - 5pm, 5-6 days per week

Tractor Operator:  Equipment Operator:  FILLED

  • This position is focused on operating tractors and implements including Case IH 265’s, Massey Ferguson 573 with front end loader forks and FarmTrac 785 with front end loader forks.  All tractors are driven for considerable distances over the road. 
  • Equipment maintenance including daily assessment, greasing, oil changes, etc
  • When not operating a tractor this position works with the ground crew performing whatever task is at hand.

Time of Year / Season / Hours:

  • Start date is somewhat flexible and can start as early as the first week in March and as late as the first week in May.
  • Hours are 6am - 5pm, 5-6 days per week
  • This position is conducive to leaving earlier in the season than other positions because cultivation ends in the fall or this person could continue into the winter depending on individual needs and wants.

Required Skills:

  • Some tractor experience
  • A mechanical foundation
  • Ability to work by yourself for the entire day and also with a larger crew

Greenhouse Manger:  FILLED


We use three greenhouses to grow all of our transplants for the farm operation and a small amount of in-ground produce for our winter CSA shares.  We have a main greenhouse that is 32’ X 96’ heated and is equipped with a ridge vent, two large overhead doors and roll up sides.  We have a smaller 18’ x 96’ house that is heated and vented conventionally with fans and roll up sides.  We also have a 18’x100’ greenhouse that is used for hardening off etc and is not heated or vented - open end walls and roll up sides.  The position of Greenhouse Manger is a bit unique because it is intense for a 5 month stretch.  We can offer employment to finish the season after the greenhouse work slows down if desired.  The work is a mix of managing the crew for doing large volume jobs but also a lot of time working by yourself or with one or two others taking care of the smaller jobs.  Because field work doesn't usually start until early April there is ample time for training to happen during March so applicants without a lot of experience are welcome to apply.

  • Position starts early March
  • 40 - 60 hours / week
  • March - end of July (other work available after Greenhouse works slows if desired)
  • 7 days a week for watering (this is negotiable)
